NFL Gambling Policy Clear, but Misunderstood by Public

NFL Gambling Policy Clear, but Misunderstood by Public

Experts have actually called the NFL the ‘No Fun League,’ but the organization’s policy on gambling is not as restrictive to players as individuals are led to trust.

The NFL policy on gambling allows players to gamble in casinos, but not to ever use their names for promotional appearances such as this arm wrestling competition at the MGM in Las vegas, nevada.

The assumption is that a competitor can’t enjoy a session wagering on craps, blackjack, craps, roulette, video poker and slot machines. As long they can enjoy that activity like any other citizen as they are on their own time. They are also permitted to put money down on a horse or dog race. Sports betting, but, remains off limits.

The problem arises when the professional has a relationship with those facilities and exploits his celebrity. The argument from them is that it is their very own some time they must be allowed to do whatever they want, but the NFL has made the difference very clear in a number of instances and vigorously enforces the regulation.

Promoting Players Prohibited

The league forbids players using their name to publicize any form of association having a casino. The concern is the fact that it blurs the line between sports betting and football.

The appearance that is recent more than 30 of these at a ‘Pro Football Arm Wrestling Championship’ at the MGM Grand over the weekend was in breach of the NFL’s rules.

The function was co-hosted by Pitts (more…)

Seton Hall Poll Shows Nearly One in Two Believe NFL Players and Refs Will Bet on Games in Las Vegas

A Seton Hall poll demonstrates the NFL’s apprehensions of enabling a franchise to call Las Vegas house are more than warranted.

NFL players and refs might be much more susceptible to placing monetary bets on the games they take part in, a new seton hall poll concludes.

The Seton Hall Sports Poll, conducted under the university’s Stillman School of Business, claims a recent survey found that almost one in 2 respondents thinks the odds of NFL players and referees betting on games in Las Vegas will increase as a result of the Oakland Raiders moving to Sin City into the coming years.

The poll asked 687 adults if they foresee ‘the increased possibility of players, referees, or team officials gambling regarding the outcome of games.’ Forty-six per cent answered ‘yes,’ while 42 percent said the likelihood would not increase.

Perhaps more alarming for the NFL is that 21 per cent also stated the Las Vegas Raiders will tarnish the league’s reputation.

‘Those are high negatives,’ Seton Hall Sports Poll Director Rick Gentile noted. ‘It is hard to assume any other major American city that would provoke such concern.’

The city received its first major professional sports organization last year with the announcement of an NHL expansion team in addition to the Raiders moving to Las Vegas. The Las Vegas Golden Knights will begin playing in T-Mobile Arena next fall.

US Rep. Jason Chaffetz has taken in enough of Congress, and that is just fine with online gambling advocates.

Chaffetz’ departure is good news for online gambling. The Utahan has been a sponsor that is leading of gaming legislation, mainly their authoring and introducing of RAWA, the Restoration of America’s Wire Act.

Though RAWA gained small traction in Congress (despite billionaire Sheldon Adelson’s tried persuasion through campaign dollars), Chaffetz saying he’s making town is a welcomed development to many online gamblers and casino operators that are purchased internet gaming.

The Republican legislator has quickly become a rising star in the GOP in recent years, as he’s overseen the Congressional investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a personal e-mail server during her time as US Secretary of State. Chaffetz grilled the previous First Lady and Democratic presidential candidate, and the scrutiny provided plenty of headlines and talking points for Republicans and Donald Trump during the recent election.
