Have worked on 21 different divisions for Iarnród Éireann. Major works including: Kildare Route Project (KRP), welded tracks on new rail line from Clonsilla, Dublin to Dunboyne, Co. Meath. Limerick Junction renewals.
This is a welding process for joining two lengths of railway together. The process employs superheated copper alloy to permanently join the rail. The process employs an exothermic reaction of a copper thermic composition to heat the copper, and requires no external source of heat or current. The chemical reaction that produces the heat is an aluminothermic reaction between aluminium powder and a mixture of copper oxides with a chemical formula.
